PJ Davies Plate drawn for 3rd year in a row

The Queensland Junior Team has yet again drawn the annual PJ Davies Plate 3-3 with a quality PGA Trainee team in another competitive contest at Indooroopilly Golf Club on Friday 14th March. The PJ Davies Plate is traditionally a great practice match for the Queensland youngsters as they prepare for the Australian Boys' Interstate Series in March - April. The matchplay format is without doubt extremely competitive, proved once again by a third consecutive draw in the series.

With four matches finished, the PGA Trainee Team were ahead 2½ to 1½ after a 2 & 1 win by Nathan Carey (PGA) over Chris Wood (Wynnum), James Beadman's (PGA) 1 up victory against Simon Worrall (Twin Waters) and a halved match between Nathan Kinch (Surfers Paradise) and Darran Wyatt (PGA).

Chris Mann (Hills) defeated former State representative Nick Papoutsis 3 & 2.

2005 Australian Junior Champion Eagle Chang (Oxley) then managed to square his match with Ian Esson (PGA) after a very tight number two contest, bringing the score to 3-2 in favour of the PGA.

Daniel Nisbet (Caboolture) at number one again showed he is one of Australia's leading junior golfers when he accounted for former State Amateur player and now PGA Trainee at Indooroopilly, Matt Guyatt - 3 & 2, demolishing any hopes of victory for the PGA Trainee Team.

Both the PGA and GQ were again impressed with the quality of golf and the spirit in which the matches were played.

The Indooroopilly Golf Club was once again very well presented, with both the PGA and Golf Queensland extremely grateful for Indooroopilly's hospitality and support for this event.
