Queensland Girls Win 2008 Junior Jug
The 2008 Inter-District Match Play Teams Event for junior
girls wound up this morning at the Coolangatta-Tweed Heads
Golf Club. The course was in superb condition and the girls
from all 7 women's golfing districts in Queensland really
enjoyed the challenge of the "round robin" style
match play in perfect weather conditions.

2008 Junior Jug competitors
The girls from Women's Golf North Queensland were very excited
to be declared the winners of the 2008 Junior Jug after some
closely-fought matches in the final round. Wide Bay Burnett,
Far North Queensland and Downs & South West were also
well in the running, but all needed a decisive win in the
final round to catch North Queensland.
The winning team from North Queensland consisted of Elisabeth
Mineo (age 17) from Townsville on a handicap of 9, Shae Holmes
(age 16) from Mackay on a handicap of 7 and Eileen Bell (age
17) from Rowes Bay on a handicap of 5. Their managers were
Margaret Schultink, WGNQ Junior Co-ordinator and Pam Lindeberg,
WGNQ Vice President.

WGNQ Team - Winners of the 2008 Junior Jug
All three girls contributed to the team's success, with Shae
Holmes being the "stand out", winning all of her
5 matches.
North Queensland were particularly excited, as their last
win in this event was in 1991, when the team consisted of
Patrice and Janelle Slade and Karrie Webb.
