The Queensland Golf Union Inc.

The Queensland Golf Union is a voluntary Union of Golf Clubs, created by golfers, controlled by golfers and works for the benefit of all golfers. Its main function is to promote the game of golf and administer ever facet of the playing and business side of the sport, including fair play and good fellowship. The Union is made up of a President (not a Delegate) and nineteen Delegates from fourteen District Associations and three Patron Clubs. From the Delegates at each Annual Meeting is elected a Management Committee of six plus the President and Vice President. A full time secretariat is employed. The Management Committee meets on a monthly basis and a meeting of Delegates is held in Brisbane every four months.

Objectives

  • To be the controlling body of amateur golf and of affiliated golf clubs in Queensland;
  • To promote the game of golf;
  • To develop golfing talent;
  • To determine applications for reinstatement of amateur status;
  • To administer the rules of the game and to decide upon questions concerning the interpretation of the rules;
  • To adjudicate upon disputes referred by an affiliated club or clubs in respect of a decision by an Association;
  • To affiliate with the Australian Golf Union and to carry out the policies of the Australian Golf Union in respect of uniform standards for the administration and the playing of the game of golf;
  • To represent its Members and affiliated clubs in relations with other bodies including, but without limiting, other golfing associations (amateur and professional), governmental (including semi-governmental, local and statutory) departments, and other organisations with a common or related interest to club administration and/or the game of golf;
  • To control and manage the Queensland Open and all other State Golf Championship events and such other tournaments as the Union may determine from time to time;
  • To regulate, when called upon to do so, the dates for open tournaments conducted by Members and affiliated clubs;
  • To control and manage representative teams selected by the Union;
  • To do such other things incidental or conducive to the above objects or which the Union may decide by resolution in accordance with the Rules.
